Welcome! If you like to explore the old west, search for lost mines of the west , gold mines, silver mines, Ghost Towns, or just see the sites then you're in the right place. Remember, the first step in any treasure hunt or adventure is information and lots of that information can be found here. We also stock books and outdoor gear for gold prospecting, treasure hunting, ghost town exploration, mining for the beginner, and geology.
We have begun carrying a full line of small scale mining tools including pans and kits, sluices, and hand tools. We will be adding new items every week or so. Check them out.Good prospecting!
The first recorded discovery of a large gold nugget in California was a 25 lb. nugget found by a soldier on the bank of the Mokelumne River in 1848. A two-ounce nugget of gold was found on Big Pine Creek in the Owens Valley of California in 1869. We have moved to Tonopah, NV (finally). It has been busy updating the home we purchased but looks like we are somewhat done. Thanks for your patience. We have temporarily closed the store until we get organized.
Things don't always change for the better: In 1932, when the U.S. produced all of its own oil, the price for a barrel of oil was 10¢. The price increase from then to now (at $70/barrel) is approximately 700 times or 70,000 %!
