The fault shown graphically to the right, shows how at the time of the initial slip the ground at the surface forms the beginning of a hill. Over time, if the fault remains active, a mountain will be formed. As the surface is raised it also begins eroding to form a sloping rise. How fast it erodes and how high the hill forms determine the overall shape of the landscape. |
