There is little doubt that the dominant force that settled the far west was the quest for mineral wealth and the businesses that
prospered from that quest. No other force could hope to bring the hordes of people to a far away land with little or no
settlements established nor routes for supplies yet known. Through all of this, thousands of people from all over the globe, came
to this empty land to try and wrest a living while digging for mineral wealth. The work was extremely hard and back breaking and few
who made the trek managed to find the elusive wealth that had brought them here. For many, the quest itself became the goal and many,
having discovered a new mineral load, would simply sell out and begin the search again. These people had found that the search alone
could provide their life's ambition in and of itself.
